Easy Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Nichole
Oatmeal cookies are one of the staple cookies in my house. I have been making these cookies for years and they always turn out moist and delicious. In particular, I love to make oatmeal raisin cookies. Here is the recipe for my favorite oatmeal raisin cookies.

Ingredients for the Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

3 cups rolled oats

1 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar, light

1 cup shortening

2 eggs

1 ½ cups flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 ¾ tbsp. vanilla

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

Preparation

In a large bowl, cream the sugar and brown sugar with the shortening. Once those are combined and creamy, add the eggs (one at a time), flour, salt, baking soda, vanilla, and cinnamon. Once those ingredients are combined, it's time to add the rolled oats. Add the rolled oats and, by hand, combine the oats until the batter is thick and thoroughly combined.

Once all the ingredients are combined, drop a spoonful at a time, the batter onto a baking sheet. Once the sheet is filled with spoonfuls of the oatmeal cookie mixture, lightly press them down with a fork.

Bake the cookies at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.

Remove the baked cookies and place on a wire rack to cool.

Presentation

My favorite way of presenting these delicious oatmeal cookies are to find a large and colorful platter and arrange the cookies from the inside of the plate to the outside and pile them up to create a beautiful stack of cookies. They are never around long enough to need to be stored.
