Easy Pegboard Wedding Place Cards

Pretty Card Board

One of the best things that happened when large home improvement stores started turning up is that women could do more projects. When you purchase many different items from such a store they will cut them to the specifics you want, free of charge. That makes it easy to work with something like pegboard. Back in the day, you had to drag a huge piece home with you, set up a set of sawbucks, measure and cut the wood, and then clean up the mess. Sure, there were and are many women who could do all of that, but not all that many who want to. Now, you can just go to the store, tell them what size you want for the board, and carry the much smaller piece home with you. So, if you're a woman, you won't find it hard at all to turn a piece of pegboard into a cute place card holder for a wedding.

Paint the pegboard the color you want. If you desire, you can add molding to the board. Just glue it on with wood glue, around the perimeter. After that, prepare clothes pins to be much more decorative. Lay them out on newspaper and paint all sides of the pins. Allow to dry completely.

It's fun to cut pieces of scrapbook paper to decorate the clothes pins. Just lay one pin on a thin cardboard piece and draw around it. Cut out the pattern and use it to cut shapes of chosen scrapbook paper. Since the paper is sold in thousands of colors, patterns, and designs, it's not hard to find one - or several - to represent the type of wedding you're having. Glue a piece of the scrapbook paper only on the top of the pin, and not on the underside.

Cut short pieces of pliable wire to attach the clothes pins. Choose a row on the pegboard, lay the clothes pin on it, and wire it in place. To do that, slide the wire in through the back, go in through the hole of the pin hinge, then slide the wire into the back of the pegboard. Twist the ends of the wire to secure the pin.
Make rows of clothes pins and, when they're all in place, just slide a card into the mouth of each clothes pin. Write a name on each card, put any details inside, then attach it with a clothespin.

Stand the board up on a table, or go to the bother of hanging it on a wall. It's simplistic, yet beautiful, and can be embellished with things like craft wedding rings, Scrabble tile words, silk flowers, or other choices.
