Easy, Personalized Christmas Tree Ornament to Make at Home

Sue Ellen K.
A great Christmas craft project to make that is fun for children and adults alike is to make your own Christmas ornaments.

For great, personalized Christmas tree ornaments, you will need the following:

Heavy cardstock paper in a neutral color
Scissors
Glue that dries clear (not glue sticks, regular glue)
Glitter (different Christmas colors)
Children-safe paints
Paintbrushes (various sizes)
Hole-puncher
Small Sequins, buttons, random decorations in Christmas colors

Most of theses items you can get at your local Hobby Lobby.

From the heavy cardstock paper, cut out appropriate sized Christmas tree outlines. Make sure there is a lot of room for decorations within the Christmas tree outline. Have the crafters paint the Christmas tree cut out on one side, and allow time to dry. When the paint has dried, it's time to use the imagination to create dazzling, unique designs. Use the sequins, buttons, and any other decorations you have.

Some themes to consider can include a traditional red/green Christmas tree, or a Fiesta theme with pink, yellow, bright green, and blue, or a classic retro blue/white tree, or a more sophisticated theme of gold with purple.

As a finishing touch to the Christmas tree craft project, use the glue to make a thin line of "garland" across the tree, and sprinkle the thin line of glue with glitter. After the project dries, use the hole puncher to create a hole near the top of the tree. Don't forget to write the Name and year of when the tree was made on the back. It will be an excellent keepsake of this special Christmas for many years to come.
