Quick Way to Make Four Types of Holiday Cookies With One Recipe
The quickest way to make a batch of Christmas cookies is follow the techniques of America's favorite little baker, the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Just as the Pillsbury Dough Boy can slice and bake so, can you. The only difference is that you can make your cookies look very festive and very fancy with very little effort.
The reason to do this with homemade cookie dough is that the cookies will taste better, and you will have more of an opportunity to make them festive and fancy.
Mix up a batch of your favorite cookies. A standard sugar cookie recipe works best.
Next, divide the dough in half. You will take the dough and roll it into a ball with your hands. Think back to your Play-Doh days. Then place the ball on a piece of parchment paper.
Tip: If you don't have parchment paper, use wax paper. If you're in a real crunch for time and don't have those supplies, use a heavily-floured cloth.
Next, roll the ball into a log. The log should be about an inch and a half in diameter. Then chill the dough for a couple of hours.
Tip: If you are short on time you can skip the chilling, the cookies just may not slice as cleanly.
Take one roll out and roll it through a plate of something pretty and yummy. You could even cut the roll in half, and roll each one in a different item. You could make four or more different varieties of Christmas cookies using this method.
Roll the dough in:
crushed almonds
crushed walnuts
shredded coconut
colored sugar
Slice the dough into little circles and bake according to the recipe. Remove from the oven and let cool. Repeat with the remaining dough.
You could also bake these little circles plain and then place a couple of chocolate chips on the warm cookie, letting it melt. As it melts, top it off with another cookie, for a tiny Linzer like cookie. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Easy Way to Make Perfect Cookies
This method will only work if you either have a huge oven, or a lot of time on your hands. You can purchase a cookie pan that already has Christmas cookie shapes in it. The pans from Wilton's will bake four cookies at a time.
