Easy Recipes for Hosting a Super Bowl Party

Kathleen Lynn
Hosting a party on the day of the big game? Dreading the amount of work you will have to put into the snacks? Here are some great ideas that won't take a lot of effort, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the show as well as reap the compliments of the tasty food well done!

1. Rotel - This is a popular dip for tortilla chips and there are many variations on how to make it. If you have some vegetarian friends, then you can hold the meat and add cheese. Sit in the crock-pot with a brick of Velveeta and a can of Rotel. It will take a couple of hours to melt and you will need to stir it. If you're a fan of meat, you can try adding a pound of browned, drained hamburger or pork sausage. The pork sausage will give it the most flavor and the hamburger is good if your bunch doesn't care for a lot of spicy tastes.

2. Pigs In a Blanket - This is really easy, really quick and tastes great with beer. In addition the kiddies playing quietly in the basement will enjoy this snack. Get a roll or two of canned croissants and a package of hot dogs. You might want to grab more than one of the items depending on how many people you are planning for. Wrap the hot dog in the croissant, use the cooking time for the croissants on the back of the roll and put these on a baking stone. Then put in the oven and serve with some ketchup. You can spice up your ketchup by adding a pinch of hot sauce and stirring well.

3. Sandwiches - Get a French bread roll that is thick, not baguette. Slice it up and add a bit of cheese. Turn on your broiler and lightly toast the bread until the cheese melts. Add your favorite lunchmeat. Add some sliced tomato to some, and leave others meat and cheese to appease different appetites. Add a dash of red crushed pepper flakes to some mayo and spread on one slice of the bread. Mini sandwiches with a dash of spice that will leave your guests wondering what you did to make them delicious!

4. Crispy Oven Fries - Grab some potatoes and wash them well. Red skinned work best. Slice them into slices. Use a stoneware baking pan if possible, otherwise grease your baking pan a bit. Add some olive oil over the potato skins. Season with a little thyme and oregano. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. You have tasty fries to serve to your guests.

These are just a few suggestions to take some of the work out of your party preparations allowing you to fully enjoy the Super Bowl as much as your guests. In addition to these ideas, you can start a pot of chili early in the morning and allow it to simmer on the stove throughout the afternoon for guests to enjoy a steaming, hot bowl at half time.
