Easy Recycling Tips

Keith Dailey
Does the thought of recycling make you sigh because of your lack of energy and time to actually do it? Have you ever envisioned hundreds of thousands of empty plastic bottles collecting in a factory, just waiting to get melted? Do you think that recycling is a difficult thing and, if you think it is not, then it isn't important? To be completely honest, I thought exactly the same way and justified my thoughts simply by refusing to recycle. I now admit that this was a mistake. Recycling is not a difficult thing nor is it something you need to get rid of in order to be a part of. And when it is simple, well, then it's just simple; whatever the case, it would still count as recycling.

Here are some simply tips to recycling that I have discovered:

Personally, I find it difficult to turn off lights whenever I leave a room. I am the type of person who, when doing anything, like stripping wallpaper or writing, always needs a lot of light while doing it. I have found two ways for energy conservation and now count myself as an avid recyclers who turns off the light whenever he leaves a room. It sounds simple, doesn't it? Well, that's because it is. All I had to do was keep reminding myself not to waste energy by constantly leaving lights turned on in empty rooms.

I had lived forty-three years with habits that I've gotten used to doing all of my life. And changing habits does not happen in one night; but, eventually it did. No single doorway has been walked past by me within the past half year, in which I haven't made a quick stop to check if the lights were turned off before I passed it. The best part of it is that whenever I did leave a light turned on, I could stop myself, turn around and turn them off before actually leaving the room completely. Was this change really so difficult? As I mentioned earlier, this didn't happen as soon as I originally thought it would, but it has now become a part of my daily life and has turned into something I always consider in my thought process towards recycling.

The second way I have discovered to help with recycling is changing my light bulbs. Yes, simply changing a burned-out bulb with a new bulb that saves more energy really helps with recycling. Energy-saving bulbs do just that - they can save up to 75% of energy whenever they are turned on. Plus, they can last up to ten times longer. How great is that? I didn't even have to go through any effort at all. All I had to do was exchange my old bulbs new and improved ones and I saved myself a whole lot of money on my electric bills.

The great news is that there are simply ways to keep track with recycling, and you the means are usually closer to home than you think.
