Easy Red and Green Christmas Decorations You Can Make

Faux Ribbon Candy
Fold a red or red and white striped ribbon into loops, resembling ribbon candy. Thread a needle through one layer and poke it through the ribbon. Slide a green bead onto the thread next. Poke through the next layer of ribbon. Continue alternating ribbon layers and beads until you reach the end. Add more beads at the top and tie off the thread in a small loop, big enough for an ornament hook.

Simple Wood Bead Ribbons
Paint some small wooden beads red and let dry. Use a long strip of wide green ribbon to thread through the beads. Space out the beads evenly, one by one. Or combine different sizes of beads for variety. Include any red or green fancy beads, if you have them on hand. Slip an ornament hook through the fabric and hang on a tree, or use double-stick tape to create the illusion of fringe on an otherwise overlooked table.

Upscale Wooden Utensils
Wooden spoons have a shelf life. If your old set has seen better days, you can upscale them into clever and homey Christmas tree decorations. Paint old spoons and honey wooden takers with red paint. While the paint is somewhat dry and feels tacky, sprinkle on some green glitter. Screw a small eye screw, available at the hardware store, into the top. Lace a red ribbon through the top.

Miniature Seashell Decorations
Paint a collection of seashells with red paint. Use a small hand drill (the kind you crank yourself, not an electric or battery-operated one) to make a small hole in the shell. Twist green and silver craft ribbon together to look like a braid. Thread through the shells. Hang on a tabletop miniature tree.

Cranberry Greens
String cranberries onto thread or dental floss, cut to six inches. Thread the cranberries only three or four inches up the string. Tie a knot on one end before you start and another when you finish. Make three or four cranberry strands per decoration. Combine the strands with a green ribbon or floral tape. Attach to fresh greens picked from outside. Embellish with a green ribbon with miniature bells tied on each end.
