Easy Scalloped Potatoes goes with just about any meat and you can serve for a few or a crowd. This recipe is easy to put together and bakes in 1 hour. You will need potatoes, onions, flour, butter, salt, pepper and milk. You may add cheese for Au Gratin Scalloped Potatoes.
Ingredients needed for Easy Scalloped Potatoes:
|4 potatoes
1 medium onion, optional
4 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons butter
Salt
Pepper
1 cup milk
Directions for making Easy Scalloped Potatoes:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
Step 2: Wash and peel potatoes, you may leave peeling on if you desire.
Step 3: Slice the potatoes about 1/8-1/4 inch thick.
Step 4: In a casserole dish, place potatoes in a single layer.
Step 5: Put some onion on top if you like.
Step 6: Sprinkle lightly with flour, salt, and pepper.
Step 7: Place 2-3 tabs of butter on top.
Step8: Repeat the layers to the top of the casserole dish.
Step 9: Pour the milk over the top of the potatoes until the dish is about 2/3 full.
Step 10: Bake at 375 degree F for 1 hour.
Tips:
The milk may be replaced with low fat or fat free if you desire.
For Au Gratin Scalloped Potatoes, add 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
For a little kick add a dash of cayenne pepper.
If you like it really creamy, add more flour
Warning:
Be careful when removing hot dish from oven.
