Easy Scarf Styles

The trend set during last year's fall has continued into this year. Scarves of all colors and patterns are definitely in style. While rocking the chunky knitted scarves is most popular during the winter months, summertime and even fall have seen various scarves still being worn. These scarves tend to be of the lighter, thinner variety and range in shapes from long and rectangular to large and square. The way in which these scarves can be worn is just about as diverse as the colors, shapes, and patterns on the scarves themselves. Here is an easy guide to several simple ways to wear a fashion scarf.

First off, if you have a square cut scarf, then your options will be different than those for a rectangular scarf. The first few ways of scarf tying that we will discuss will be for a square scarf.

1 )Grandma's Knot: Here's the traditional scarf knot that your grandmother has probably been sporting for years. Classic and simple, this scarf knot will look great with any outfit. Simply take your scarf and fold it in half so that you have now formed a double layered rectangular. Wrap this around your neck and tie it in a loose regular knot, shifted towards one side of your body (so that it's not directly under your neck).

2) Trendy and Fashionable: This is probably the most popular way to wear a square scarf right now, and it definitely takes a good deal of finagling with your material to get the look just right (each scarf and person has different exact proportions). For this style, fold the scarf into a large triangle and loosely arrange the material around your shoulders. You will probably need to secure it with a loose knot at some position around one of your shoulders. This style looks best when you have a more asymmetrical arrangement of the scarf material.

If you have a long rectangular scarf, here are a few ways to style it as well.

3) Straight Forward: This style is easy and simple and always looks great. A basic slipknot is used for this style, only the knot is fashioned around your neck (so be careful not to pull too tight!); fold the scarf in half and hang one end of the scarf (the looped end) around one side of your neck with the other end (the two loose ends of the scarf) around the other side. Slip the loose ends through the loop, and position the resulting knot in the front of your neck.

4) Wrapped Up: This style is will leave you with lots of material around your shoulders. For this look, hold onto your scarf in front of your face and drape it around your shoulders so that both ends of the scarf are falling down your back. Next, pick up the ends of the scarf from your back and drape them around in front of your head so that the ends are opposite to where they started. You should now have the scarf securely (but loosely) situated around your neck and shoulders.
