I purchased all the necessary ingredients to make salt scrub. Most of the ingredients can be found at local craft stores. I did have trouble locating Dead Sea salt locally, so I omitted that ingredient; however, salt scrub can still be beneficial even without the extra minerals found in the Dead Sea salt. It is really easy to give your face a healthy glow by using homemade salt scrub. Homemade salt scrub can also be a great gift item.
Easy to Make Sea Salt Scrub
Materials:
Sea Salt
Meat Mallet
Measuring cups
Glass container
Epsom Salt
Dead Sea Salt, optional
Extra Virgin Olive oil
Essential Oil fragrance, or soap fragrance
Vitamin E oil
Directions:
Using a meat mallet, break sea salt into a fine grain. The sea salt I purchased is rather large and is typically used for making bath salts; however, I found I could crush it with just a little elbow grease. Of course there is another option for reducing the salt size. Simply process it using a food processor. Just make sure you do not over process the salt. It should be medium-small texture not fine like a powder.
Place ½-cup of crushed or processed sea salt into a glass jar. Then add ¼-cup Epsom salt and ¼-cup Dead Sea salt. If you can't locate the Dead Sea salt remember that it can be omitted. Mix the salts so that they are evenly dispersed throughout the container.
Add extra virgin olive oil to the salt mixture. You should use enough olive oil so that the salt is completely covered and the oil stands about 1/4 -inch above the salt line.
Add four to five drops of Essential oil or soap fragrance to the mixture. Stir. I chose the fragrances sunflower blush and jasmine rose. Both of these fragrances are light and aromatic. Choose whatever fragrance you prefer. If desired, you can completely omit the extra fragrance from the salt scrub. That will leave the salt scrub with a faint olive oil fragrance.
Add 10 drops of vitamin E oil to the salt scrub and stir. Vitamin E oil can help reduce the appearance of scars, reduce wrinkles and nourish the skin. Mix the salt scrub thoroughly.
Store your salt scrub in an airtight container. I chose pretty flip top mason jars to hold the sea salt scrub.
Use the salt scrub before your regular face washing regiment to revive you skin and remove dead skin cells. Salt scrub is abrasive so be careful not to rub your face aggressively as you wash it.
