Wood flooring is one of the most popular floor choices among many homeowners. Not only is it beautiful and practical, it's also easy to care for and maintain. Wood flooring can enhance the look of any home and it goes with almost any décor. To keep your wood flooring looking its best, you will want to fix any damages that may happen quickly and easily. Here are some easy and simple fix-ups for wood flooring.

Repair scratches in wood flooring

The most common problem with wood flooring is the scratches, but this can be repaired easily with some shoe polish. Make sure that you shop around at different stores to match the color of the shoe polish to the color of the wood flooring.

Take a soft cloth and apply a little dab of shoe polish, and then gently rub it into the scratched area. Allow the shoe polish to dry, and then take a slightly dampened, soft cloth and buff the scratched area. The scratch in your wood flooring should have disappeared and no one will be the wiser.

Repair shallow dents in wood flooring

In some point in time you will most likely come across a dent in your wood flooring. Don't worry, you can easily fix this problem with some clear nail polish or some clear shellac.

Just fill in the dent with the clear nail polish or the clear shellac and allow it to dry, this may take up to 24 hours. When the clear nail polish or clear shellac dries, the dent should disappear because the natural color of the wood will shine through, making it virtually impossible to detect.

Repair water ring marks in wood flooring

Water ring marks are a common problem for homeowners with wood flooring. It may have happened when someone put a sweating glass right on the wood or just a spill of water that has been left untreated, leaving an ugly water ring mark in your beautiful wood flooring.

To fix this problem you simply make a mixture of non-gel, white toothpaste and mayonnaise, apply the mixture to a soft cloth and gently rub the water ring mark. Then gently rub off the excess mixture, and gently buff the area with some lemon oil. The water ring mark should just disappear, leaving behind a beautiful shine.

Try some of these easy and simple fix-ups on wood flooring today, you will have your wood flooring looking just as beautiful as when you first had it installed.
