Easy Snack Recipes to Make with Kids

RachelK
If your children are like mine, they love to help in the kitchen, and they love to cook. I have found some great recipes that are easy for kids to make, and a lot of fun too. This is also a good way to get a picky eater to try some new food.

Ants on a Log

Ingredients:

Celery sticks
Peanut Butter
Raisins

Just fill the celery sticks with peanut butter and put the raisins on top for your ants. If you don't want to use raisins you can use chocolate chips or we've ever used sprinkles...colored ants!

Apple Smiles Snack

Ingredients:

Apples
Peanut Butter
Miniature Marshmallows

Slice apples into wedges. Smear peanut butter on one side of 2 wedges. Stick a few marshmallows on the peanut butter on one of the apple wedges and top with the other apple wedge - peanut butter side down.

When you look at this it looks like a smile, the red part of the apple are the lips and the marshmallows are the teeth.

Banana Pops

Slice the banana in half and insert a popsicle stick in the bottom. Wrap the pop in plastic wrap. If you want to get creative you can melt some chocolate and did the pop into it, and then roll it in some sprinkles, or nuts.

Bugs and Dirt

Ingredients:

Gummy worms
Raisins
Sprinkles
Chocolate graham crackers

Crush graham crackers in a bowl, place sprinkles, raisins, and worms to the mixture. Just get some spoons and enjoy! My sons loved making this. The raisins are your beetles, the sprinkles are your ants, and you even have some worms.

Little Pizzas

English muffins
Pizza sauce
Cheese

You can toast the English muffin, and then let your child put on the sauce and cheese. You can put some pepperoni slices on top if you like, or any other topping that your child likes, or cut up some vegetables like green or red pepper. Heat in a 400 degree oven until cheese is melted.

Piggies in a Blanket

1 can biscuits
1 package hot dogs

I slice the hot dogs in half. Let your child roll out the biscuit flat and wrap the hot dog around it. You can put a slice of cheese inside. Just bake according to the directions on the can biscuit package.

These are some recipes I have made with my children. The idea is to keep it simple, fun, and easy for them. If you can sneak some healthy food in there that makes it even better.

Enjoy!
