Easy Solar Light Project for the Yard

Garden Girl
If you are looking for a quick and easy project to work on for the yard, this is it! For this project you will need three solar yard lights, railroad tie, (about 3 feet is all you'll need), decrative rope, and super glue. All of which can be found at your local hardware store.

The first thing you are going to do is cut the railroad tie into three different sized pieces. My longest piece on mine is a foot and a half long, my next peice is one foot, and the third peice measure a half of foot. You can really make this any size you want, just remember that the solar lights will be coming out of the top of the railroad ties, making it taller. After cutting the ties, you will need to measure the bottom part of the solar lights to see how big a hole you will need to drill into the railroad ties. Next you will drill a hole in the middle of all three peices of your cut railraod ties making sure they are about two inches deep, and just wide enough around for your solar lights to sit in the hole securly.

Next arrange the three pieces to your liking. I have my longest peice in the back, then the next size shorter peice that i cut and the shortest peice stand next to eachother in front of the longest peice. When you are arraning your peices, make sure that they look good with the lights in them before you proceed to the next step. When you have it arranged to your liking then super glue the three peices together and add your decrative rope. Cut enough rope to go all the way around the three railroad ties. I have rope attatched close to the bottom of my three railroad ties, 2 peices, and then one peice arounf my longest tie towards the top, (see photo). Use your super glue to attatch the decrative rope to your railroad ties. If your solar lights aren't already in, place them in their spots now.

The very last thing you need to do is pick the perfect spot in your yard or garden to display your new solar lighting fixture! As simply as that you now have a beautiful stylish lighting fixture for your yard and garden!
