Easy Steps for How to Brew Your Own Beer

Brewing your own beer isn't a new idea, but it's definitely something that is starting to become more and more popular as people are introducing their friends to it. The many varieties and flavors of beer that you can brew at home make brewing beer an exciting idea, and something that just sounds like a lot of fun. You can even add fruits and other flavors to your beer in order to get the same tastes as some of the more exotic beers that you have probably tried at your favorite restaurants.

Beer brewing is typically done in three different steps. The first step is to brew the beer. This is also called by many people "making the wort". Basically, you're mixing the malt extract and other ingredients, such as hops, with water and boiling it. The right mixture of ingredients and length of boil gives you the different flavors for the type of beer that you are creating.

Once you have your wort made, you're going to cool it down and add your brewer's yeast. The wort contains a lot of sugar, which is what the yeast feeds off of. As the yeast eats the sugar, it excretes alcohol, as well as carbon dioxide. There are different types of yeasts that will allow you to define the type of beer you want to create. This process typically takes one to two weeks, while the yeast ferments your mixture.

After your beer has fermented long enough, you're going to bottle it and get it ready to drink. When you bottle your beer, you will also add a little bit of sugar to it so the yeast can form carbon dioxide, which is what makes the beer all bubbly. After a few days of letting the yeast react, it will be time to place it in the refrigerator in order to turn the yeast dormant. If you leave it out, then the yeast will just continue consuming the sugar and forming carbon dioxide, until the pressure has to escape. This could prove to be disastrous if your bottles start exploding, or your lids lose their seal.

At this point, you're now able to drink your new beverages. As you try new recipes you'll eventually find your favorites that you can have on hand for any occasion. The money you save by making your own beer at home will also be considerable enough to cause even more enjoyment. With this information, your next step is to just go out and get started. It's so easy, you can have your first batch started in the next couple hours if you just get to it.
