Make sure you have enough memory in your camera, take pictures at different times of the day and learn easy editing to increase the amount of photos you sell. Taking pictures as a hobby or even a job is a great way to make money, but what if you could make money with the same picture several times?

Start by joining many stock photo sites, that pay you per download and start putting your pictures up. To see what is hot and what is not look at other artist's photos that are big earners and see what they did different. Keep your eye on categories that are week and try to fill them up with your photos.

Take pictures. Make sure you have enough memory, so that you can work, without being interrupted by a full memory card. Memory is cheap, so buy two or three, so you can easily change them and have a clean card again. Keep your pictures at the highest quality and back them up on flash drives, when you are done downloading and editing them.

A great technique is to take the same picture during different times of the day. This works well with locations or monuments. Sunrise, Sunset and Nighttime pictures are usually more interesting that a picture taken at noon.

Edit your pictures well. Crop pictures so that they are well centered, and then make sure that they don't have dust spots and people don't have red-eye. Every picture you take should actually be a set of several variations. The original, the edited version, a black and white and a few other colors that make the picture pop are great to add to the set. Publish each variation of your photo, accept for the original, unless you didn't have to edit it.
