Easy Turkey Gravy Recipes for Thanksgiving; Gravy Recipes to Accommodate Your Turkey Dinner
Don't Allow Your Gravy to Become Lumpy
Most of us look for a homemade gravy that is quick, easy, and yet enjoyable. When preparing you don't want those nasty lumps in it, it's not a nice feeling. Another thing you don't want is burnt gravy, it should be a nice brown thick consistency. One of the main ingredients for your gravy is the salt, but you need to be careful, because sometimes the drippings from the turkey are salty enough.
Make sure after each time you apply the salt and pepper do a taste taste. This way the taste won't be overpowering to your taste buds.
There are so many options. You can make the gravy the day of or day before Thanksgiving. Trust me nobody will know the difference. To make the gravy the day before follow this scrumptious recipe Make Ahead Turkey gravy. This sounds so good, I might have to give it a shot.
My Traditional Turkey Gravy Recipe
We all have our own ways of making gravy. Here's what I use.
Ingredients needed:
1 1/2 cups of turkey drippings, if it's more no big deal. Use the ratio below for an idea.
3/4 cup milk
Salt, pepper
A tablespoon of fat to one tablespoon of flour. So if your making 4 cups of gravy, use 4 cups of flour and drippings/fat.
Making The Turkey Gravy
Very simple, place the fat drippings into a pan. Make sure the heat is low. Pour the milk, flour and seasoning into the pan. Simmer this until it's thick and creamy. Remove from heat and add your salt and pepper. Now remember to use a whisk, so you won't have any lumps.

I did make lump gravy one year for Thanksgiving, I'll be sure to use your recipe this year!
I remember my Mom teaching me how to make gravy: Stir Rebecca, stir! Don't stop stirring! I don't care if your arm is tired, keep stirring!
More yummms...
my husband thanks you hehe!
Without gravy turkey is bland, unless of course smashed between two piece of bread, slathered in mayo, salt and pepper. Gravy is good...very, very good!
You know, I think lumps get a bad rap! (LOL) cheers :) Great article!
You mean I can't just open a jar of Heinz? :)
We use a virtually identical recipe. It's excellent.
