Hearts and Flowers Necklace
To make the necklace, you will need small macaroni (bead-shaped), three strands of lightweight yarn (each about 7-8 feet long), a needle with a big eye, and pink or red nail polish.
To begin, knot together 3 strands of yarn. Leave a six inch tassle at one end and thread the other end through the needle. You can color your macaroni pink or red if you like. Be sure your macaroni is dry before threading. Now, you are ready to thread the yarn through a piece of macaroni. Tie a second knot close to the macaroni. Continue threading macaroni and knotting the yarn until you are about 7 inches from the end. Finish with a knot. Leave another 6-inch tassle and knot the tassles together.
To make the hearts and flowers, you will need a rolling pin, wax paper, a small knife or cookie cutters, wax paper, clear nail polish, and some clay.
To make the clay, mix 1 cup flour, one quarter cup salt, and 1/3 cup water in a mixing bowl. Mix well and store in a plastic bag.
First, roll out the clay on a sheet of wax paper to one quarter inch thickness. With a small knife or cookie cutters, cut our a heart or a flower. Poke a hole in each one for stringing. Put them aside and let them dry for 2=3 days. Color the flowers and hearts red and pink. When they are dry, brush them with a clear coat of clear nail polish. With the strand of yarn from each tassle, tie the heart and flower to the necklace.
Valentine Silhouettes
Make a silhouette for your sweetheart. These are fun and easy to make!
First, gather your supplies. You will need black construction paper, red and pink paper, white paper, a pencil, scissors, a doily, a piece of cardboard, a bright lamp, red ribbon or heavy yarn, tape, and glue.
Now, stand sideways between a bright lamp and an empty wall. Use a bright lamp. Tape a sheet of black construction paper against the wall, so your shadow falls on the paper. Ask a friend to trace your silhouette on the paper.
Now, cut out the silhouette and set it aside. Pull out the sheet of white paper and glue it to the piece of cardboard. Glue the silhouette in the center and glue it in place.
Cut out hearts from the pink construction paper, and smaller hearts from the red construction paper.
Place the hearts around the border of the white paper. Put pink hearts on red hearts and vice versa. Spruce up your valentines with doily lace.
Use red ribbon or yarn as a hanger and tape to the back of the silhouette. Give your silhouette to someone you like or love!
