Easy Valentine's Day Craft Activities for Kids

Valentine's Day is a great holiday to show how much you care about the people in your life, and kids will enjoy honoring the people they love and care about on this holiday as well. Making easy craft activities with kids for Valentine's Day is a great way to spend time with the little ones you care about while making gift for other special people. This article will provide you with detailed instructions on creating easy Valentine's Day crafts with kids.

Egg Carton Flowers

Flowers are a traditional Valentine's Day symbol, and kids can make easy egg carton flowers for Valentine's Day. For this project you will need an egg carton, pen, scissors, pipe cleaners, glue, paint, and a paintbrush. Help kids cut the egg carton into sections. You can also help kids cut different fun edges on the ends off the egg cups.

Allow kids to paint the egg cups whatever colors they would like their flowers to be; remind the kids to paint the insides as well as the outsides. Next use the pen to poke a hole in the bottom of the egg cup. Push the pipe cleaner though the hole and twist the end a little so it does not fall out; you should also add a little bit of glue where the pipe cleaner and the cup meet. You can add smaller pieces of pipe cleaners shaped into diamonds as leaves for the stem. This easy Valentine's Day craft is fun for kids, and they make a beautiful gift.

Bottle Cap Lockets

Making a personalized locket is easy and fun for kids, and this unique Valentine's Day craft is also inexpensive. For this project you will need 2 bottle caps of the same size, a small piece of duct tape, paint, a piece of yarn or string, glue, a marker, and a piece of paper. Start by tracing the bottle caps onto a piece of paper. Now cut out the circles, and help kids decorate them with a photo, drawing, or a written message such as "I love you".

Lay the bottle caps on the table on top of each other; remember to have the curved edges facing inward like a clam shell. Cut the yarn to be the right necklace size. Place the center of the yarn across the small piece of tape, and tape one side of the caps together. Paint the outside of the bottle caps and the tape, and glue the paper circles inside the caps. When it has all dried kids will love this easy Valentine's Day craft so much they will want to wear it all year.

Heart Mobile

A Heart mobile is an easy kids craft that can also be used as a Valentine's Day decoration. For this project you will need yarn or string, paint, a paintbrush, cardboard, a pen or needle, and glue. Start by cutting a large circle out of the card board, and help kids cut smaller hearts of various sizes out of the card board. Next allow kids to paint all of these pieces and allow them to dry. You can stick with red, pink, and purple paint, or you can let kids get as creative with the colors as you like.

Next glue the cardboard hearts to pieces of string that have been cut to various lengths. You can also use a pen to poke holes in the hearts and tie the string to them. Next poke three holes in the big circle using a pen or needle. Cut three even pieces of string, and thread each piece of string through a hole in the circle. Pull them up and into the middle of the circle and tie them in a knot to hang the mobile evenly. Next help kids tie the hearts to the circle allowing them to dangle at different lengths. This is an easy and lovely kids craft for Valentine's Day, and it is a great decoration that you can disply for years to come.

Share Your Heart Necklace

A foam heart necklace that breaks into two pieces and can be shared with friends and loved ones is an easy kid's craft that is perfect for Valentine's Day. For this project you will need to necklace length pieces of ribbon, a sheet of red, purple, or pink foam, scissors, a pen, a hole puncher or thick needle, glitter, sequins, and fabric paint. Start by drawing a heart onto the piece of foam, and help kids to cut it out.

Next use the hole puncher to punch a hole in the top round part of each side of the heart. Allow kids to paint and decorate the heart using the fabric paint, glitter, and sequins. When the heart has dried you can help kids cut it in half and thread the ribbon through the holes. This is the perfect Valentine's Day craft for kids who want to make a special gift for their best friend on Valentine's Day.
