Easy Valentine's Day Pillows You Can Make

Make Your Valentine a Cute Pillow as a Gift!

Darlene Michaud
A heart themed pillow makes a nice gift you can give to a loved one for Valentine's Day. You can quickly and easily make your own Valentine's Day pillows, and you don't even need to know how to sew!

For the pillows mentioned below, you can decide whether or not you want it to be a sewing project or a no-sew project. If you decide to sew, you can use a sewing machine or you can sew by hand. If you decide you don't want to sew, you can use Liquid Thread or another fabric glue. Liquid Thread is usually available at Walmart or any store that carries sewing supplies. You can also order Liquid Thread online.

"Be Mine" Valentine's Day Pillow (see sample image here)

This is a cute pillow that is very easy to make. It's also a good craft for kids. It's a good way for them to learn some simple hand sewing basics.

Cut two hearts from red craft felt. Also cut some small hearts from white and pink felt. Then cut the words "BE MINE !" from felt, using the color of your choice. To cut the words, print out letters using your computer and use those as a template.

Attach the letters and the hearts to one of the big red hearts using liquid thread or by sewing them on. Then put the two red hearts together and attach them using a simple whipstitch all around the heart. You can also glue the pieced together if you prefer.

As you attach the two red hearts, leave a space on one side and fill the pillow with polyfil or whatever filling you have on hand (you can even use old but clean cut up socks!). Finish stitching the heart and you are done!

"Flowers and Hearts" Valentine's Day Pillow (see sample image here)

This is a nice pillow to make to use as an actual throw pillow. And since you get to choose the color scheme, you can make it to match your decor and use it year round! It also makes a nice pillow to toss on a girl's bed.

Start by cutting two squares of the fabric of your choice. You can buy fabric or you can recycle fabric by cutting up an old dress or shirt.

Also cut a heart in the color of your choice and attach it to the front of one of the squares using glue or by sewing it on. Then place the two squares right sides together and stitch or glue all around, leaving a space for stuffing the pillow.

Turn the pillow case right side out and stuff the pillow using polyfil or whatever you have on hand to stuff the pillow. Then close the pillow with a simple whipstitch.

"Funky Girl" Valentine's Day Pillow (see sample image here)

This is a wild and crazy pillow that any girl would love to make and love to receive. There really are no rules when it comes to this pillow (there are no rules in crafting... period!).

Start by cutting two heart shapes out of craft felt. Then go wild decorating one of the hearts using any craft supplies you have on hand, such as button, bows, ribbon, fabric paint, embroidery, beads, gems. If you are not planning on washing the pillow, you can use any white tacky glue to attach the decorations.

After your heart is decorated, sew the two hearts together using a whip stitch and stuff it just before sewing it closed.
