Paper Craft Valentine's Day Treat Bag

Materials Needed:

Pink Card Stock Paper or Construction Paper

Red Card Stock Paper or Construction Paper

White Card Stock Paper or Construction Paper

Valentines Day Style Stickers

Valentines Day Style ¼ inch wide Ribbon (or any ¼ inch wide Ribbon in complementary colors such as red & white)

Scrapbook Markers or Stickers with "Love" or "Valentines Day" Sayings

Small Zipper Seal Sandwich Bags

Scissors

Glue or Double Sided Tape

Instructions

Refer to article picture for a clear example of the finished product as you complete the following steps:

Fold red card stock paper in half, flatten folded edge. On the fold (using the fold as one side) cut a rectangle 6 ½ inches wide by 4 inches tall.

Using scissors, round top corners (on the fold.) Leaving a one inch border, following the shape of the handle, cut the center out of both sides of the rectangle. The finished product should clearly resemble a bag handle.

From the pink card stock paper, cut a 2 ½ inch wide by 5 inch tall rectangle. Trim one side of the narrow end of the rectangle to resemble a luggage tag shape.

Cut a 2 inch wide by 3 inch tall rectangle from the white card stock paper. Glue or tape white rectangle to the center of the pink luggage tag shape.

Open handle shape and flatten so that both sides are visible. Using scissor tip (or another sharp instrument such as a razor knife) make two small slits ¼ inch apart slightly right of the outside center bottom of one flap of the handle. This is where the ribbon will be tied.

Make identical slits near the top center of the pink luggage tag shape.

Cut a 6 inch length of ribbon. Thread ribbon through one slit on pink luggage tag shape, then through matching slit on red handle shape. Repeat by threading ribbon through second slit in red handle shape, then second slit on pink luggage handle shape (to secure the red handle to the pink luggage tag.) Tie ribbon into bow.

Decorate luggage tag with Valentines Day style sticker(s) of choice. Use scrapbook style markers to write a Valentines Day saying such as "Be My Valentine," "Happy Valentines Day," "Hugs & Kisses," or another appropriate saying.

Optional: Use pre-designed Valentines Day sayings stickers instead of writing message with scrapbook style markers.

Turn paper over so that inside of bag handles are visible. Secure one side of zipper seal bag, zipper side up, to one side of the inside bag handle using glue or double-sided tape. Place glue or tape at least ½ under the zipper seal to allow room for the bag to be easily opened and closed.

Fold handle and secure opposite side of zipper seal bag to underside of red bag handle with glue or double sided tape.

Your treat bag is now complete! Fill bag with candy hearts, chocolates, notes of love, or other goodies and hand deliver to your loved ones.

Additional Tips: Any combination of paper, ribbon, and stickers may be used to complete this project. Try creating a bag with variant shades of purple or vibrant pinks to suit your own Valentines Day style.

Use pastels to create an Easter-themed treat bag, or shades of green for St. Patricks Day. This design is very versatile - it's easy to create a treat bag for every celebration!
