-Drink you water! I always drink at least eight glasses of water a day. If you can get more than that in, you're better off. Water flushes out the system and keeps you well hydrated!
-Skip the whipped cream! If you love to have an iced coffee, just by saying no to the whipped cream can save you hundreds of calories!
-Half it! If you're dining out, grab a to-go container and cut your meal in half when it arrives at your table! If you don't have the control to stop yourself when you're half finished, this will keep it out of sight and out of mind.
-Be a kid! Order off the kids menu! Most restaurants allow you to order off of kids menus. They are the right portion sizes for adults! It's a great way to eat "bad" but still be good!
-Party full! If you're heading out to a party that you know is going to have terrible food, eat something healthy before you go. That way you're already full and if you do feel the need to grind on bad stuff, you won't eat as much as you would have.
-Eat your fruits! Kill a sweet craving with a super sweet piece of fruit. Many times, that will squelch that need for something sweet!
-Eat Chocolate! If you are having a chocolate craving, eat one small piece and that is it! One piece everyday will not hurt your diet. Another way to get that chocolate fix is to have a small piece of something that is incredibly rich. Often times, one bite of such a rich food is enough to kill your sweet craving all day!
-Eat your protein! Try and fill up on lean proteins before you dive into your carbs. They keep you full longer and are easily burned. Always skip eating the rolls at the table!
-Don't skip breakfast! It's proven that skipping breakfast is a BAD thing! It slows down your metabolism! We definitely do not want that. If you're rushed, grab a protein bar that is all natural and not full of sugars or sugar alcohol.
-SUPER SIZE means you being SUPER SIZED! Always, always, always get the smallest portion sizes when ordering out!
-Eat SLOOOOOOW! If you slow down and take your time, research has shown that the person that ate faster ate hundreds more calories that the person who took their time and enjoyed their food.
-Soda is so bad! Always opt for water. Even with diet alternatives, the carbonation is not good for your body. Water is always best!
-Ask a restaurant for their nutrition information! When it's sitting right in front of you, it will shock you how many calories and fat grams are in each item. Sometimes your favorite appetizers can have more than 2000 calories per serving!
I hope these tips help you keep a little bit of sanity in your dieting world. It's not always easy, but it is so worth it in the end! Keep up the good work and even if you have a bad day, jump back on the wagon the next and you'll be just fine! As always, exercise is a must along with diet! GOOD LUCK!
