It's that time of year, the time when you get closer to your family, friends and neighbors. The holiday spirit can be doubled by adding some decorations to your life. The best feeling in the world is pulling into your driveway at the end of a long work day to a lit up yard full of beautiful colors, animation and holiday spirit.

The best time to do this decorating so it can be done as a family is to do it right after thanksgiving. If this isn't already your tradition, make it a new one! Decorate all of your trees in the front yard and at sundown the day after Thanksgiving, flip the switch and enjoy the first moments of the Christmas season with your family, friends or neighbors.

It's a known fact that bright lights make people happy, as just think of this as a month of pure happiness every time you pull into your driveway. Here are 5 great decorating tips to make your house the top decorated house on your street this year:

1. Decorate your house and trees - Skip the white lights this year, find outdoor tree lights that have wonderful bright colors, and add some color into your white winter. Wrap the lights around the tree trunks if they show, and then wrap the remaining lights around your roof and door. Pick a great set of colors that complement each other.

2. Animated Holiday Spirits - They have so many different animated figures for lawns now. They can even survive in the snow. Don't be afraid to buy some cute friendly reindeer that are electric and can eat grass on repeat all day. Find a Santa Clause that haves to everyone driving by, or get some great lights that give off a light show.

3. Outdoor Ornaments - Why stop at just lights when it comes to your trees. Find or make large weatherproof ornaments and personalize your tree.

4. Driveway Lights - With all of the lights surrounding your house, it might be finding to locate the darkness of your driveway at nighttime. Therefore, buying some great lit up snowflakes or candy canes to line your driveway will give you that extra brightness to show you the way to your house.

5. Snowmen - If you live in a cold climate location, you've probably already gotten hit with some snow already this fall/winter season, so it's looking like building a snowman on your front lawn after Thanksgiving might not be an issue. Make sure you're snowman is wearing a smile, hate and scarf to give it life. If you don't live in a cold climate, or haven't gotten snow by Thanksgiving time, make a snowman the same way you make a scarecrow, get some Styrofoam balls from your local craft store and make a winter scene on your lawn. Therefore, even if you're living in sunny Florida, you can still get the feel of a winter wonderland right in front of your house.

Don't let Christmas pass you by without enjoy the happiness the holidays bring. So, get into the spirit and decorate your front yard. It will make you and everyone who drives by happy! You can find some great outdoor lights, animated ornaments and driveway liners at your local hardware store, Walmart or Target.
