Easy Ways to Hide Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

Although there are myriads of products for sale that claim to "eliminate dark circles under your eyes" or to "reduce puffiness", for some people nothing seems to fade those dark under-eye circles. Whether it's genetics, a lack of sleep, or illness that is causing dark circles to form under your eyes, sometimes all the medicine in the world won't cure your tired-eye look. While you may not be able to completely eliminate dark circles, there are steps you can take to hide baggy eyes and make you look more awake.

Reduce dark, puffy eyes. Before you attempt to cover up those dark circles under your eyes, try to reduce some of the darkness and puffiness. Some easy tips to reduce the darkness would be to: make sure you get enough sleep at night, drink plenty of water, avoid touching under your eyes as this causes bruising, and lastly be sure that you have a proper diet. Again, even though these tips may not eliminate dark eyes, they can reduce it significantly. A simple home cure you can try is applying moist, cooled tea bags over your eyes. Relax with the tea bags over your eyes and allow the tannin in the tea to reduce dark, puffy eyes. Repeat over a few days time, until you start to see improvement.

Invest in an under-eye concealer. Many make-up companies sell a special product that is designed to cover up dark circles under the eyes. It usually comes in a stick form that you gently use to line under the eyes. The cream-like foundation helps to hide any sagging, dark circles. These usually come in a variety of skin shades to best match the rest of your face. Covergirl offers a great under-eye concealer at a very reasonable price. It blends in with your skin enough to hide the fact that you are wearing make-up. It's perfect for women who go for the more natural look or for those that wear make-up.

Consider using an everyday concealer. If you have a favorite facial concealer that you'd rather use instead of a specific under-eye concealer, you can use that as well to hide dark circles under your eyes. A mineral based powder foundation would work best to cover up dark circles and reduce puffiness. Before applying the concealer to your face, take a small amount of powder on your fingertip and gently rub along the dark circles under your eyes. Don't worry if you apply too much at first; just keep applying until you can no longer see any dark circles. Next, take a make-up brush and starting right under your eyes, brush gently outward. This will blend the foundation into your skin and make it appear seamless. If you wish, you can then apply your regular powder foundation as you normally would. The concealer under your eyes and on the rest of your face should blend naturally.

Make your eyes look awake. Even if a hint of dark circles are still visible under your eyes, there are still ways to make your eyes look open and awake even if you're not. Applying just a small amount of mascara on your upper and lower eyelashes will make your eyes look wider and almost add a bit of a sparkle. If you don't prefer to use mascara, consider using just a bit of a light colored eye liner on your upper lash line. A light colored liner (as opposed to the usual black) will make your eyes look more open and thus reduce the tired, puffy eye look associated with dark circles under the eyes.

Using these simple tips will make you look more vibrant and alive and help to hide those tired eyes.
