Easy Ways to Improve Ramen Noodles: Cheap Recipes

Nik Minor
Top Ramen noodles have been a staple food in many households throughout the years. Indeed many kids would have otherwise gone hungry without the cheap and delicious noodles. Though ramen noodles have gotten flack for being less than nutritious and loaded with sodium, comparatively speaking, there are worse things to eat. Plus, eating is always preferable to starving, as any independent college student will attest. Though ramen noodles are delicious in their own right, there are many ways to improve them.

Easy Ways to Improve Ramen Noodles

The following recipes use cheap ingredients that you likely already have in your fridge or cupboard.

Cheese and Ramen Recipe

Cheese, particularly the packaged kind that easily melts, is one delicious way for cheese lovers to improve ramen noodles. If you like creamy fettuccine, then this is a cheap and easy way to get that effect. Prior to adding your flavor pack and cheese, drain all of the water. If you're feeling particularly starved, toss a chopped hot dog or some extra chicken into your noodles.

Onions and Hot Sauce Ramen Recipe

If you like your meals with a little kick, one easy way to improve your ramen noodles is to add about a fifth of chopped white onion and a few spurts of your favorite hot sauce. If you like the liquid, make sure to leave plenty. The resulting liquid will burn your mouth, in a good way, of course.

Sauerkraut and Ramen Recipe

Do you love a hot dog loaded down with sauerkraut? The next time you prep your ramen noodles, kick them up a notch and toss in a few forkfuls of sauerkraut. The tart and crunchy sauerkraut combines well with the noodles and results in an amazing leftover juice.

Crackers and Ramen Recipe

Saltine crackers and cheez-its aren't just for soup. Other easy ways to improve your ramen noodles is by adding either of these crackers. If you like the crunch, drain the majority of the water and don't add too many crackers at once.

Of course there are a number of ways to spice up your ramen noodles. If you're particularly health conscious, but can't afford to not eat ramen noodles, you could even toss in some spinach, peas, red peppers, carrots or zucchini. Another way to reduce the sodium is to drain all of the water and use only half of the flavor packet.

Also throw some frozen veggies in. Makes a good addition (if you like veggies), adds some nutrition, and is very easy.

You have educated me about Ramen noodles. I have never had nor heard about them, although I was a starving student once upon a time.
