Buy a good purse in the first place. Some purses are easier to deal with than others. Many purses have built in pockets that make things easier. Whenever you're about to buy a purse, look through it and think through what you'll be putting in it. Is there a place for everything? Or will be a giant, jumbled mess? If you get a bag that's designed well, then you can avoid any issues altogether.
Sort your items into bags. Get some bags. It doesn't matter it they are pretty clutches or Ziploc bags; get some bags. Brightly colored bags that hold a rigid form are best, though, as these are easier to find in a large purse. By being rigid or bulky they are easier to blindly reach into your bag and grasp, and bright colors make it easier to see and recognize which bag is which. Sort the items that will be going into your purse by category. Put things that you reach for at the same time together. Put make-up together; small knick-knacks like gum, mints, tissues, and hair ties together; and keys, wallet, and cell phone together. If you don't want to have to undo a bag every time you want your keys or cell phone, for instance, leave those out and loose. If most of your things are sorted, then the few miscellaneous items you use most frequently will still be easier to find as there will be less mess to sort through.
Tag your items with charms. Your keys will be easier to find if it has a giant, flashing LED name tag key chain attached to it. Your cellphone will be easier to snatch it has a long jingly charm hanging off of it. Mark your item with easy to see, easy to feel tags and charms. There are many different kinds of key chains and charms these days, and almost everyone can find one that suits their tastes. They come in all different shapes and colors and for all different uses. There are even charms for pens. If you have something uniquely shaped attached to your item, you're more likely to be able to find and identify it.
Large purses can make it hard to find the things you need in them, but with these tips you should find it a little easier to find your wallet next time you're paying for something, or your cell phone next time it starts ringing. Now you can fashionable and practical.
