Easy Ways to Remove Stains from Tupperware

Easy Cleaning Solutions!

I think we all have done it, made the mistake of putting tomato-based food or any other food that stains into our Tupperware food storage containers, and staining it for life. Well, maybe not for life, but making it difficult to just wash away. The good news is that there are some easy ways to get rid of the stains and restoring your Tupperware back to when you first brought them home.

Easy ways to remove stains from Tupperware: Use the sun

A simple way to get rid of the stains in Tupperware, especially from tomato-based food is to use the power of the sun. Put the stained Tupperware out in the direct sunlight. Let it sit for a few hours and the stain will disappear, and then wash as normal with dishwashing liquid. The stain will be gone or at least faded considerably.

Easy ways to remove stains from Tupperware: Soak in automatic dishwashing detergent

This is a great way to get the stain out of your Tupperware, first you will need to fill your sink with hot water, and then add one tablespoon of automatic dishwashing detergent to one pint of water. The longer you soak the Tupperware, the better the results. Usually soaking the Tupperware for an hour or two will work just fine.

Easy ways to remove stains from Tupperware: Baking soda and salt

This method is one of the simplest stain removal techniques. Just get some baking soda and salt and wash your Tupperware food containers just as you would with regular dishwashing detergent. The baking soda cleans the stains while the salt acts as an abrasive. After you're done scrubbing, just wash the containers out with normal dishwashing detergent and you're done.

Easy ways to remove stains from Tupperware: Use bleach

This is the method that I usually use because it does two jobs at once. Just fill your sink with warm water about halfway, and then add about a half cup of bleach. Submerge the stained containers and let soak for up to an hour. This is a great way to get your kitchen sink clean as well. Both your Tupperware and your sink will be sparkling clean.

Easy ways to prevent staining

To help keep your Tupperware stain-free you can use this little trick. Before you put the food into Tupperware food container, just simply spray the inside of the container with some cooking spray. This will help keep the food from sticking and staining the Tupperware. When you go to wash the container, the food will be easily washed away without staining.

Try some of these techniques next time you have stained Tupperware that you need cleaned.

Wow Dina! You are just so helpful with this. I have a gazillion pieces of Tupperware (the real stuff) and it could all use a bit of a spruce up. Love the bleach/kitchen sink idea as well.
