Sometimes what you eat affects your sleep. Some say that eating cherries is the secret to a good night's sleep. Cherries are rich in melatonin. Melatonin is what helps your body regulate its wake/sleep patterns. On the other hand, cutting out caffeine from your life, can help you by not keeping you wired at night. Try to resist coffee or beverages that have caffeine after 2 or 3pm each day.
You can also try a warm bath that has chamomile, rose oils, or lavender. These natural smells are said to help make you drowsy so you can fall asleep. When you're done you can crawl into your high thread count sheets to help cradle you in comfort.
Whatever you do, do not take any work with you to bed. The bedroom should be a place to relax and unwind. If you are thinking of work or school your mind will be continuously thinking of all your projects and deadlines. Focus on the good things in your life and try to clear your mind. Turn off the lights and try to control your breathing. Some use sound machines that have soothing sounds like rain or crashing waves. Once you find out what works for you it will make you more comfortable about bedtime and getting to sleep.
