Easy Ways to Update Your Bathroom

Abby Greenhill
Some rooms in your home are used so frequently that they sometimes are forgotten about when it comes to updates. You would be surprised how easy it is to update your bathroom. Here are some easy ways to update your bathroom and give it a fresh look.

Update your Bathroom - Paint

When it comes to paint, for the cost of a gallon of the miracle liquid you can totally change the look of your bathroom. If your bathroom has always been white, by adding a color to the walls the room will be reborn. If your purple bathroom has seen better days, try deep beige for warmth, or go all the way with a dark brown. If you don't like the way it turns out, paint over it. If your bathroom is small, try using a light color. If your bathroom is large, go deep and dark if that's your style.

Update your Bathroom - Lighting

Lighting in a bathroom is important and one sparse bulb hanging over the sink won't do. You need good lighting above the sink. Take a walk through the home improvement store you will find options that are so reasonably priced that you will wish you had updated the lighting years ago.

Update your Bathroom - Towels

Towels are not only a necessity in a bathroom, but they become part of the décor. If you don't have a linen closet, or your linen closet is small, you can use your extra towels as decorative items and they will be within easy reach. Roll up a few bath towels and stack them by your tub. Add a colorful bar of soap and some bath beads and you have an attractive, but useful, display. Look for sales at your local stores and pick up a supply of new colors. If your bathroom already seems to have a lot of colors, use white towels and watch them pop against your dark walls.

Update your Bathroom - Shower Curtain

If you use a shower curtain, you have an opportunity to change it out for something new and colorful quite often. If you want a shower curtain to bled in, buy one the same color as your tub. If you want it to stand out, get a color that is totally different from your tub or wall color. You can buy a clear liner and then make the actual 'curtain' if you are into sewing. When you use a liner and a curtain you need a double shower rod. Or, to save money, just buy a colorful liner for a few dollars.

Update your Bathroom - Plants

If you have the room on a vanity or shelf, by all means use plants to decorate your bathroom. Make sure to use plants that can take the humidity. An Africa Violet probably wouldn't do well, but a hanging spider plant or an aloe plant would be perfect.

Change is good, and inexpensive and easy ways to update your bathroom can make change happen!

I like your simple and easy suggestions. We don't use our bathtub so it's become a "greentub".

Oy! I live in a small New York City apartment, and my bathroom is about the size of a walk-in closet! Hehe! One of these days, though, watch out! I will get a great apartment somewhere on an upper floor, and become a real Designing Woman!!
