Supplies
White 10 1/4 inch paper plates
Black Magic (or permanent) marker
hole puncher
Black roll of yarn
pencil
tape or thumb tacks
Directions
Step 1
We are making hanging soccer balls. They are not going to be rounded, however flat. First you need to get your white paper plate. The amount you will need is determined on the amount of ceiling space you want to use. This will be determined later on in the step guide.
Step 2
Draw a soccer ball pattern on both sides of the paper plate with a pencil first. This will help you erase any mistakes you make. Remember the black shape inside the soccer ball is a pentagon which is a five-sided shape. A good tip is to start with the pentagon shape in the middle of the paper plate and work from there out.
Step 3
Outline all the lines on the paper plate that you drew with a pencil with the black marker. Color in selected pentagons just like a soccer ball pattern would be. Remember to make sure you do this on both sides of the plate.
Step 4
With using your hole punch, punch a hole in the top of the paper plate.
Step 5
Pull out an arm length of black yarn and cut it. Thread it through the hole on the plate and tie it on the ends.
Step 6
With either tape or a thumb tack, tack the threaded yarn to the ceiling of the party room. You now have your own World Cup soccer balls that are hanging soccer balls.
Remember the size of your room determines how many paper plate soccer balls you want to hang. It would be a good tip to at least have five to six rows of at least five to six plate in each row. Here is a good picture reference for a soccer ball pattern that you can look at.
