Omega 3's are an important nutrient for your heart. Eat foods such as wild caught salmon, mackerel, tuna and flax seed to get Omega 3 oils naturally. Wild caught salmon has a higher amount of Omega 3 oils than farm raised salmon.

Eat Vegetables and Fruit for a Heart Healthy Diet

Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits every day to keep your heart healthy. Each meal should consist of 50% vegetables. Eat fruit as snacks in between meals. Healthy vegetables include spinach, kale, collard greens, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and sweet potatoes. It is very important to eat fish at least three times per week. Wild caught salmon is the best fish that you can eat, but there are also other excellent fish that you can eat to protect your heart such as halibut.

Super foods such as turkey and yogurt are also healthy to eat for your heart. Both are low in fat and high in nutrients.
