Eat Negative Calorie Foods for Easy Weight Loss

Crystal Sciarini
Neal Barnard, ND in his book "Foods That Cause You to Lose Weight: The Negative Calorie Effect" has revealed that foods that are high in cellulose, also known as fiber, actually burn more calories then you ingest. I won't bore you with the scientific details Barnard's research. It simply boils down to the fact that the high fiber content in these negative calorie foods are so difficult to digest that the body burns more calories than consumed.

I know you are asking yourself, "Is this for real?" The answer is yes! You see every food you eat takes calories to burn, but most foods are low in fiber so there are calories left over after the digestion process. The same is not true for negative calorie foods. It takes more calories to digest negative calorie foods than the food contains.

Here is a list of negative calorie foods.
Note: Those foods with an asterisk are not considered negative calorie foods by all experts.

asparagus

It is important to keep in mind that your diet CANNOT only consist of negative calorie foods. To keep yourself healthy and to lose weight safely you will need to eat a balanced diet. The advantage of the negative calories foods is that you can snack on them throughout the day to keep yourself from getting the munchies and overeating.

I find that having a couple sandwich bags filled with a variety of negative calorie foods are great for snacking. Keeping these bags handy can ward off a sugar craving or serve as a quick lunch when you have a busy day without time for a proper lunch. Every morning I grab four bags, two each of veggies and two each of fruits. These grab bags also help to ensure that I get the full daily allowance of fruits and vegetables.

Please be sure to check with your doctor before changing your daily diet, especially if you are diabetic or taking certain medications. You also may want to check into the Blood Type Diet to see which foods are good for your specific blood type.
