Eat Quaker Instant Oatmeal for a Healthy Heart

Quaker Oatmeal Really Does Lower Your Cholesterol

Susan Antonelli
First my husband found out he had high cholesterol. He tried medicines (Lipitor) and then went to the healthy eating route. He began eating oatmeal muffins made with Quaker Oats three times a day. Then I found out mine was a bit high as well. I decided to eat Quaker Instant Oats mixed with Quick Quaker Oats. I had this combination every morning for breakfast and still do. My cholesterol dropped from 210 to 180 in less than four weeks. Like the ad says it gave me something to smile about.

Quaker Quick Oats isn't just a cholesterol free food it's a whole grain that has beta glucan soluble fiber. The soluble fiber works to soak up the excess cholesterol and bind with it. Since your bloodstream doesn't absorb the cholesterol it's flushed out.

Quaker Quick Oats provides 2 grams of soluble fiber and 2 grams of dietary fiber. It's low fat, low cholesterol and low calorie. The Instant Quaker Oatmeal is 1 gram of soluble fiber and 3 grams of dietary fiber per serving so by combining them every morning I get plenty of fiber before I even eat all my other meals. I eat the Quaker Oatmeal packets Raisin, Date & Walnut flavor. It's also a good source of calcium, iron and 7 other essential vitamins and minerals. It's low in saturated fat and it provides you with 1 serving of whole grain. Both the Quick Oats and Instant Oatmeal can be made in the microwave or with Instant Hot water.

The Quacker Oats Instant comes in Maple Brown Sugar Apple Cinnamon, Regular and my favorite the Raisin, Date, Walnut. You can also get a box of assorted flavors. If you haven't tried this get the assorted version first so you can decide which you prefer.

You can also add to your healthy regime if you're too busy for breakfast by eating Quaker Oatmeal To Go. This is a chewy moist cereal bar that comes in five delicious flavors, Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Raspberry Strudel, Banana Bread and Oatmeal Raisen. The one bar has all the same whole grains you'd find in a bowl of Quaker cereal. By having this as a snack you add to your heart healthy fiber intake for the day. I like the cereal bars since they travel well and can be eataen at work, on the road, in the car, while flying in a plane, anywhere. They aren't made of anything that will melt and get messy in your purse or pocket. They are also great for kids who haven't got time for breakfast before school or as part of the lunch meal snack.

I highly recommend Quaker Oats as a heart healthy, cholesterol reducing food. So does my doctor.
