Eat Right During Your Pregnancy

Pregnancy comes with a series of discomforts. Doctors used to not pay too much attention to these things. These things were just there because they come with pregnancy. Today however, doctors know that a healthy diet helps prevent or reduce the discomforts of being pregnant.

Many pregnant women have some oral problems. Vitamin C and calcium are essential to keep your teeth and gums healthy and also your baby's teeth. Gum with no sugar added or chewing on a piece of cheese or nuts can be very helpful.

Many women who wait a long time in between meals get lightheaded or complain of dizziness. Eat and snack all day to prevent that. Try not to flee to junk food. Healthy snacks will give you the boost you need. Junk food will give you a quick boost, but after a while you will feel even worse. Liquids are very important too. To conquer dizziness you have to drink and eat. Your blood sugar cannot go too low and you should not get dehydrated.

Many pregnant women have to deal with leg cramps during the night. These cramps cause them to wake up. A calcium deficit can do this to you. Not enough magnesium is also a possibility and so is dehydration. Ensure that you take enough calcium and magnesium in. For many pregnant women it helps to eat cheese or drink milk before going to bed. 8 glasses of water are a guideline for daytime hydration.

Edema is also a common pregnancy complaint. Preeclampsia is of course a possibility, but a little bit of swilling is ok and actually needed during pregnancy. Water retention is the most prominent cause of edema. To minimize the discomfort drink extra water and do not eat salty food.

Many pregnant women see their skin transform into that of an adolescent. If your skin gets too dry increase your fluid intake. Omega 3 intake and consuming seeds and nuts can help with flakey skin. More folic acid can help you fight skin discoloration. Overall, prenatal vitamins will be a big help.

The extra hormones during the pregnancy slow down hair loss. Many pregnant women have great looking hair. Some pregnant women do not like their hair during their pregnancy. A vitamin deficiency may be the reason why your hair doesn't look good. Vitamins A, B and C are important the full nine months. Hair and scalp need vitamin A. Hair growth is linked to vitamin B. For hair strength vitamin C is very important. Your diet should be rich on those vitamins.

The success of your pregnancy is often related to your nutritious intake and will help you fight the discomforts that come with the whole process.
