Eat Some More Beef Dummies

Frank V.
I'm sure by now everyone has heard the news of this Wetland Meat Co. and the subsequent beef recall. I stopped eating beef and pork last August because of crap like this. Most people will not want to face the facts of where our meat comes from and how it is handled. There is plenty of video out there and documentation of abuse and filth in slaughterhouses. Unfortunately, our government has made things like hambugers and hot dogs "American". People think we as Americans are supposed to eat this crap because it's part of our culture. Well, wasn't slavery part of our culture too? We seemed to have given that up, now it's time we stopped supporting corporations like Westland. If you really feel the need to consume meat products, look for meat that comes from free range farms. By allowing them to feed us this garbage we are only letting them treat us like cattle, blindly eating what they tell us we should eat. I don't want to come across as a loony animal activist but this is really more of fighting corporation greed. They have taken our food supply and turned it into profit for them. How do you increase profits? You cut corners. Do we really want to cut corners with food? Watch this video of the cows at Westland and watch it a couple times. Let it really affect you and maybe your eyes will open. These companies are out of control, and they need to be held accountable. Ok i'm done. I feel better.

THANK YOU! I feel the same way! It's not the meat I have a problem with, unto itself I don't have an issue that eating meat is wrong, but the mass production of animals as food, and the way they are treated....ugh. It should make people feel some type of negative emotion, and the fact that more people aren't outraged and this stuff isn't in the news is SCARY! Seriously, your work on the food industry is really good and you should try getting on with a magazine as a columnist about the food industry.
