Eating Beans and Rice Could Help You Lose Weight

Some Easy Recipes that Take Off Pounds

I have saved a lot of money and lost a lot of weight by eating beans and rice regularly. It is nutritious when made with whole grain rice and a variety of different beans and is really inexpensive and can taste great.

I don't follow a traditional Mexican recipe. I simply adapted these two basic ingredients to the way I like to eat. I love making a soup using chicken stock and the beans and rice and adding frozen vegetables after the rice softens about half an hour into the cooking time. The chicken or pork chop I add for flavor and additional protein I cook in from the beginning of the cooking. A cutlet or two is all you need. Also add lots of spices. Sometimes I use garlic, salt, pepper and thyme. Sometimes I use Italian spices like basil and oregano. Spice it the way you like. It can really add flavor.

I even made an Asian inspired dish using pink beans and brown rice, a package of frozen spinach and putting it in a slow cooker on high all day. Then I spiced it up with garlic and salt and pepper and used soy sauce to add flavor. Not bad at all.

Or you can take the beans and rice and add some shredded cheese. I find mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and Roman cheese to be a nice change. Or you could use cheddar and Monterey Jack for a more southwestern flavor with perhaps some salsa.

The main reason I like to make my own versus buying the ready made beans and rice packages is because they put so many chemicals and MSG in the prepackaged beans and rice with the Mexican Spices and with all of my allergies, it can't be good to add these things into my system.

It really makes me feel good knowing I am getting a good protein without a lot of fat and I feel so good and it has helped me control my weight really well. My blood pressure is normal, I lost 55 lbs and I feel better than ever and I really can't say enough nice things about making a change to this as a major diet change to eat healthier.

I have health problems and this seems to help me a lot. I can't eat a lot of soy. And I'm allergic to all fish, tomatoes and strawberries and raspberries and this really helps me get the protein I need without feeling deprived of anything. You have many options in cooking it other than a traditional Mexican dish as you can see. I hope I can inspire you to lose the weight too.
