Part of the joy of living in a large city is the wide variety of dining establishments. Here in Cleveland we have numerous choices from American to ethnic foods and everything in between to suit your mood. But what if you are vegan, vegetarian or simply want a non-meat option? The following restaurants are not pure vegetarian establishments, however, they offer some of the best choices for vegans in the Cleveland area.

Tommy's - Located at 1824 Coventry Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH in the Coventry district Tommy's has a wide variety of vegetarian offerings including Tofu & Tempeh dishes, vegetarian burgers, hot dogs and chili, salads and shakes. The kids will enjoy the pizza, plate of fries, the decor and the crayons.

Udupi Cafe- Is a Vegetarian South Indian restaurant located at6339 Olde York Rd in Parma Heights. A buffet is offered for lunch on the weekdays and from 5pm-7pm, the entire menu is 30% off. Start with the Samosa as an appetizer and give the Dosai (a huge crispy crepe filled with potatoes and onions) a try. Go for the food, not the ambience.

Johnny Mango-- 3120 Bridge Avenue, at Fulton Avenue in Cleveland offers vegetarian dishes with an international flare. The menu includes Mexican, Thai and Jamaican favorites from black bean quesadillas, bean burritos, Miso Soup and the daily "Happy Beans" selections. Johnny Mango's offers indoor and outdoor dining.

These restaurants are considered to be inexpensive in price but definitely not taste. If you are not vegetarian but are looking for something different, give them a try - you won't be disappointed.
