I discovered the healthy, all-natural line of Marzetti Simply Dressed salad dressing by chance. As a freelance writer I was given the opportunity to sample and review four Marzetti flavors: Blue Cheese, Pomegranate, Ranch and Balsamic. I was really surprised by the fresh, home-made flavor of each bottle. And when I saw that Marzetti salad dressings were made with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, canola oil and no trans fats, I knew I had found my dream fruit and salad dipping sauce and condiment replacement.
I especially love dipping fresh fruit in the Marzetti Simply Dressed Pomegranate all natural dressing. I keep the sauce in a sugar bowl in the fridge. Then when I get the munchies in the evening, I place the bowl of Pomegranate sauce in the middle of a plate and create a rich spread of fruit around it from strawberries to mangos and apples. It's a healthy, delicious snack that goes well with a glass of red wine.
As a side dish for beef dinners, I love to mix crispy lettuce hearts, avocado and vertically sliced cherry tomatoes, as well as chopped pecans and dry cranberries. Then I add Marzetti Simply Dressed Balsamic salad dressing. For fish dinners, I cut a similar salad, but I replace the pecans and cranberries with kalamata olives, red onion and pita chips which I crush in a Ziploc bag using a rolling pin or mallet. For dressing I use Marzetti Simple Dressed Blue Cheese salad dressing.
For homemade coleslaw I mix white and red cabbage at a 2:1 ratio and add Marzetti Simply Dressed Coleslaw Dressing one hour before serving the salad. This gives the cabbage time to soften and shrink. I also recommend putting less coleslaw dressing than you think you should because of the shrinking characteristic of cabbage.
And for sandwiches, I no longer use mayonnaise, which typically includes some trans fats. Instead I spread Marzetti dressings on the bread. Ranch flavor is ideal for a pastrami and cheese sandwich. Pomegranate flavor compliments smoked turkey, while Ranch goes well with honey glazed turkey.
As a migraine sufferer, I love that Marzetti Simply Dressed dressings do not contain MSG or high fructose corn syrup, which are known headache triggers. And as a gourmet, I appreciate the fresh, homemade taste locked in every bottle.
In compliance with FTC regulations, I'll add that I received this product for free and I was compensated for the article.
