As you shall see I am not talking about eating without your shirt or skirt but to eat without all those little extras that we usually put on our food (ketchup, sauces, salt, creamers, sugar, syrups, mayonnaise, dressings, mustard, and dips).

Perhaps one of the great benefits of going naked in eating food is the immediate reduction of sodium consumption, that is salt. Yes Salt is one of the most consumed adds on in our food. Recently, a study showed that people eats about 2 teaspoons of salt a day, which is approximately twice what our body needs. Not only that, the problem is that as much as 50% of that salt comes from processed food.

Currently, accepted nutrition guidelines state that 2,3 grams of sodium per day is safe (this is the safe upper limit). However, the Institute of Medicine says just 1,5g per day is what we need. All salt above that is just superfluous and dangerous to our body.

So what can you do to reduce your salt intake:

First, take the salt off the table, you rally do not need to add salt to your fries, and food to get the full flavor of them. In fact salt masks the true flavor of foods. Second, cook without salt. I know the first few days will be awful but the taste of food without salt will really be great after a few days of getting used to. Third, try salt substitutes and other salt-free seasonings like herbs and spices. In addition of cutting salt ingestion you will be adding some exiting new flavors to your food. Fourth, salty seasonings such as bouillon cubes, sherry or cooking wine, chili sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire, meat tenderizers and steak sauces.

You should not stop at salt for going in an ëaing naked mode." Try to strip your food from other unnecessary stuff like mayo, sauces, ketchup, etc. Do you really need to load up you pancakes of that maple syrup. Why don;t you just add some fruit and some raw brown sugar instead? Or do you need that mayo on your sandwich? I bet you know the answer. Go naked, I mean eating naked and you will be getting enormous health benefits
