Ebay and Craigslist Pros and Cons - Which Website is the Best for You

Kid-Romeo
Times are hard these days and everyone is looking to make some extra money. Most of us are doing what we can and it's still not enough to make ends meet. There are many things we can do to make money, but some of them are difficult or pointless. Jobs are almost gone, saving money is not an option, and it's like there is no hope in sight. There is one thing though that if you haven't thought about you should. That thing is very similar to having a garage sale, its selling stuff online. A garage sale is easy but you have to get your stuff outside and be in the hot sun. When you sell online you can sit in your chair and just do everything on a pc in the cool air. There are two ways to do this they are called eBay, and Craigslist. In this article, I will discuss which of these websites will benefit you the best, and how they work.

The first topic I will discuss is what eBay is all about. Most of us have lots of old things we no longer are using or need. Instead of just having these things collect dust we can make a profit from them. If you do not need the money then you can always donate to places like goodwill so other people can benefit from your stuff. Like I said earlier though these are hard times and getting some extra money would be a good thing. So if you have stuff to get rid off and need money then the internet is the way to go. Now first off with eBay you will need to have some money to get the ball rolling. Unlike Craigslist, eBay requires you to pay money to sell your items on their website. Ebay is a website that is worldwide you can sell pretty much anything or buy anything from anyone all over the globe. People from all angles of the globe can see your items when you post them online. To sell your items on eBay you will have to pay a listing and a final value fee. You also will have to pay to ship the item out to the customer but that's usually covered in the price you sell the item for. You would put a shipping fee cost on the item or you can add it into the final item price. Ebay takes care of much of the transaction which is great for you. Once you get the payment for the item its clear sailing from there next you just have to mail out the item.

Ebay sells items in two different ways that you should be aware of. This is also a big difference towards the website Craigslist. First way to sell on eBay is by bidding on an item. Ebay is an auction website where craigslist is not. You can put an item up on eBay for purchase and people will bid on it for a set number of days. When the days are over whoever has the highest bid will win the item. The trick is that you cannot see the other persons bid so you have to just guess on bidding. The other way to sell an item on eBay is called buy it now. Buy it now option does not require any bidding at all. All you have to do is find the item you want and pay one flat fee for the item.

Ebay is a great way to sell and make a profit but the fees are the problem. If you want to sell lots of items, expensive items, something you can gain from then do it on eBay. When you sell really expensive items on eBay you can make enough to pay you fees and still have some left over. If having to pay fees is not your thing and you want something free and easy you should try Craigslist.

The next topic I will discuss is what Craigslist is all about. Craigslist is a great website to sell items mainly because it is free. All you have to do with craigslist is sign up for an account which is free and then begins the task of selling. There are no fee's to be paid and no hassles or worries everything is pretty simple. I have many friends who use craigslist to sell items and they have made a good amount of money. Craigslist can also be used to find jobs, dates, and lots of free items people are giving away. Craigslist has sites nationwide and is narrowed down to cities all over. So with craigslist you can find someone right next door to you and just walk over to get your item. This is one of the great things about craigslist unlike eBay people can come to your house or meet you somewhere close to get the item. So this requires no shipping costs or fees and makes life a little more easier. You can also sell big or small items on craigslist just like on eBay there are no restrictions. So for those of us who would rather gain money than lose money craigslist is a good idea.

The final topic I will discuss is an overview of Craigslist and eBay. Craigslist and eBay are the two biggest internet selling websites today. Ebay is not just nationwide but worldwide for selling items. Craigslist is only nationwide but it's narrowed down to cities all over the state. Ebay requires you to pay to sell on their site which would hurt if you do not have an income. Craigslist does not require you to pay to sell which is awesome for most of us. You can sell the same kind of items on both sites there are no restrictions. If you're going to sell on either site you need to have a digital camera so you can take pictures of your stuff to show your customers. These are both great sites to sell on and it all boils down to your budget and what you want to do. The time is now so get online and let the selling begin.
