Max was out taking pictures of the happenings in North Raleigh again. He showed up at the North Hills Mall about quarter of nine on Saturday Morning October 4th 2008. He, like a few others, had heard things were going on in the popular mall.

Like other curiosity seekers who ply the world with a camera in hand, Max was not dissuaded by the numerous security people directly traffic into the dark underground maw of the mall. He politely followed their impassioned hand signals as they tried to force cell phone users deep in personal conversations to take notice and not run them down. Not every driver took the hint which is material for another tail.

Of the many things that were going on this morning in this cold sunny morning was a walk by the supporters of American Cancer Society. The people were there to participate in the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk".

Max watched the whole event from the sign up before nine; to the last people leaving at eleven AM.

One thing that Max has in common with his marvelous grandson is his love of pretty balloons. The walk supporters built beautiful ribbons of pink balloons that adorned the gates of the mall, arched over the starting line and rose heavenly above one of the beautiful fountains.

That's how Max happened to notice the lovely ladies of the Ecclesia House of Prayer Church.

It was at the end of the walk and people were heading out to their cars or the North Hills Farmers Market held there on Saturdays. One of the ladies was carrying one of the best looking balloons in the whole place. It was huge and it was made up of three colors. It had two balloons on the sides twisted in a nice white ribbon. It looked like fun.

Max out of curiosity asked, like his grandson might, if the lady had made the arrangement herself. Well one thing leads to another and Max found himself promising to publish not only the ladies picture but to include their close friends.

Actually Max likes taking pictures so didn't cross his mind that to publish he also has to write about the good cause these wonderful ladies are participating in.

Max, whose wife has had two battles with Cancer, appreciates it when he sees others out there willing to walk in these events. He often sees people there who need the encouragement as they face the disease for the first time or try to cope with a loved one who lost the battle.

It was nice to see the ladies who must have had to travel a bit to get to North Hills from the Durham area of their church. What was nicer still was to see friends supporting friends in such a wonderful way.
