Eclipse

Jose Zuniga
It hit me,
your shoe,
red, edgy,
pain-in-cheek,
a reminder
of how we parted...
and I remember
soft-scented perfume
building moats in the wet sand
where you dropped my two-dollar jelly beans...
but now
without that broken heel,
its cloudy like the center of a milkshake
as it spins out of control,
out of the heart
in an abyss
of the mind.
