Eco- Friendly Spring Cleaning
If you have pots and pans that got dark and rusty looking over the winter holiday cooking, well ketchup and baking soda can come helpful. Pull all your pots and pans soak them in the water for 15 minutes, and then take a cup of ketchup a 2 tablespoon of baking soda and start scrubbing. Let it sit for a 30 minutes before you scrub one more time with a rough sponge or sanding block and wash it off. Your pots and pans should be nice and shine once again. The same is for the silverware and anything made out of copper and silver. For the golden looking materials I would not use, because from my own experience it seem to discolor.
For cleaning your windows, you can use vinegar and newspaper. Vinegar cleans well all those smudges and polishes your window better than any window cleaner brand.
Today other than gas stoves, flat surface stoves are very popular. However, it gets dirty easy especially when you have white surface and it is visible. Do not worry! If you want to try alternative way to clean your stove surface than simply mix 2 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of salt and few drops of regular vinegar. Combine it well, and pour it little bit at the time on your stovetop. Scrub with a rough side of the sponge (if you have thick layers, take just a plain razor blade and sideways slowly push it off). After you cleaned and scrubbed, take a dump cloth and wipe it off. Make your stove squeaky clean.
Polishing your wood table and kitchen cabinets, you do not need to use expensive products that are often just full of toxic ingredients. Try combining pure olive oil with a lemon zest or a lemon skin; leave it for a few hours or overnight and simply strain the lemon zest or skin from it. Take a cotton cloth and gently apply the lemon infused oil to the surface. Your table and kitchen cabinets will look shiny, fresh and smell wonderful through the house.
