Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor #1
Plants: Give something that is living, like a plant. The most important thing here is to make it small or miniature. It can be used to help decorate the reception table and you can place one at each place setting. Some small plants could include cacti, bonsai, and bamboo. For a fragrant gift, make small pots of herbs and paint or write with a paint pen your guest's name on the little clay pot.
Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor #2
Seeds: Purchase flower, vegetable or herb seeds and try to keep them in line with the theme for your wedding. For example, Queen Anne's Lace for a Victorian wedding or daisy for a summer outdoors wedding. Now wrap the seeds in a square of burlap fabric and tie with a hemp cord.
Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor #3
Reusable Water Bottle: Think Sigg brand, reusable water bottle. These are nontoxic and because they are reusable, plastic water bottles will not go into the landfills. Granted, these are pricey, but guaranteed your guests will never forget it!
Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor #4
Reusable Shopping Tote Bag: This can be made of cotton, or other natural fiber. Again, this shows you care about the environment and is something your wedding guests will literally use on a weekly basis. Try to resist the urge to have something personal printed on these bags such as the bride and groom's names or wedding date, keep it plain and your guest will actually use it.
Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor #5
Fair Trade Gifts: Go on-line to find a handmade product from another country involved in fair trade practices. There is hand-painted pottery, origami peace symbols, bamboo bowls, wallets, beaded necklaces. Also available are fair-trade coffee, tea and chocolate.
Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor #6
Candles: Natural beeswax candles make a great wedding favor. They are available in many different shapes and forms; choose one that fits the theme of your wedding. They are unscented and will not cause a problem with most wedding guests as far as fragrance sensitivity, and what could be better than something made by a little bee?

Post a CommentThese are good suggestions, but one caution. If we are saying "eco friendly" make sure when you suggest seeds or plants as favors, make sure you are not suggesting non native invasive species which are NOT environmentally friendly, and can be very detrimental. Here, Queen Anne's Lace would be a terrible plant to spread more of around!
