Eco-Farmed Rice Review: Lundberg Eco-Farmed Gluten Free Short Grain Brown Rice

Even Though This Rice was Not Organic I Still Thought that it was Good.

It wasn't that long ago that I tried some new rice. I had been buying all of my rice in bulk to save money but ended up getting it already packaged a few different times. On one of these times I had gotten two bags of rice from the same company. One of these bags was organic and one of these bags was full of eco-farmed rice. These two bags were Lundberg Family Farms Organic Long Grain Brown Rice and Lundberg Family Farms Eco-Farmed California Brown Basmati Rice. Only recently did I finish the last of the rice that I had from these two bags and was off visiting my mom who also had a bag of rice from the Lundberg Family Farms and it was one that I hadn't tried.

Nine times out of ten when I am out of rice and in need of it I get some organic long grain brown rice. My mom had some short grain brown rice on hand but it wasn't organic it was Lundberg Eco-Farmed Gluten Free Short Grain Brown Rice. I thought that it was interesting that both me and my mom had the same brand of rice. While I was visiting her we had a stir-fry dish that required us to use the short grain brown rice that was gluten free and eco-farmed. I thought that it tasted good. I still prefer to get organic rices myself but if I had to choose from just traditional rice and rice that is eco-farmed I would choose the rice that is eco-farmed. Even though I normally don't get short grain rice myself I thought that it still tasted good. Like I do with my own foods I examined the bag of the rice to see the nutrition facts.

In a fourth of a cup of the Lundberg Eco-Farmed Gluten Free Short Grain Brown Rice there is one hundred and seventy calories with fifteen calories from fat. A fourth of a cup is the standard serving for rice and there are about eighteen servings in a bag of this particular rice. Every serving contains forty grams of carbohydrates, three grams of both fiber and protein and the minerals and vitamins section of the short grain brown rice listed iron with four percent. I thought that these nutrition facts were very good for eco-farmed short grain brown rice. After looking over the nutrition facts I wondered about the cooking time. I thought that maybe because the rice was short grain that it might cook faster but it required fifty minutes, what I normally cook my long grain rice for.

Neither my mom nor myself require gluten free foods in our diet but from time to time we eat them. I am not sure if my mom specifically bought the Lundberg Eco-Farmed Gluten Free Short Grain Brown Rice because it was gluten free or if she even had noticed that it was. For anyone who needs to have gluten free rice I think that this rice might be a good option. It tastes good, offers good nutrition and as long as you don't mind the cooking time it really is all around a great rice. The bag that my mom had contained about four and half cups and cost my mom two dollars and ninety-five cents. I have seen it in my grocery store for about that much and although I have eyed it before I wouldn't normally get it unless there was not a organic rice option or if I couldn't afford to get the organic rice option that was available. I was happy to try it though and was glad that I did.
