When it comes to saving the environment and living a greener lifestyle, we must at every way possible to make a difference. Green Christmas ideas can be found everywhere. Beautiful and festive Christmas decorations aren't just about how many lights and Santas you can buy and place around the house. You can get the most beautiful display out of the simplest of decorations.
The Green Christmas Card Branch Display only requires just a few materials. The things you will need are:
• Christmas cards
• Branches
• Ribbon
• 18-gauge wire
• Hole punch
• Ladder
Take the kids into the backyard and collect five or six gnarly branches that have thin offshoots. You can make a game out of it so that the kids can have a good time while doing. Other places to find branches are local parks, school grounds or even at the local floral shop. Flower vendors sell branches by in bunches.
Now pull out those old Christmas cards. Depending on the size of the branch display you plan to make, you may only need about 10 cards. You can also have the kids make something to put on the branch display. Color Christmas drawings and pictures are a nice addition to the display. Punch a hole at the top of the cards and pictures.
You will hang the display from a ceiling light fixture. It works in rooms other than the foyer; like the living room and dining room. You will need a light fixture that has a chain. You will need to fashion the display right on the light fixture, so pull out your ladder.
Take the 18-gauge wire and wrap it around the ends of the branch. Leave part of the wire loose to wrap around the chain. Wrap the wire tightly so that the branch is secured to the chain. Continue until all of the branches are hanging.
Slip a piece of ribbon through the hole on the card and tie it to the branch. Tie the ribbon into a decorative bow after tying it to the branch. Tie all of the cards to the different branches; spread them out so that they are not cluttered. Do not add too many cards to the branches because it will overpower the natural appeal of the branch display.
