Joyce Carole
Are you and your significant other interested in living a "green" lifestyle? If you are, here are five great eco-friendly date ideas. Combine spending time together with environmentally friendly activities is a win for you and a win for Mother Earth.

Eco-Friendly Date Idea #1 - A Bike Riding Adventure

Head to a neighborhood biking trail for an eco-friendly date that is not only good for the environment its, also good for your body. Biking is a wonderful way to spend some quality time together and riding a bike is much better for the environment than driving a car. Put on those bike helmets and grab a refillable water bottle (no plastic water bottles please) and head out to you local bike trail for an eco-friendly date.

Eco-Friendly Date Idea #2 - Plant a Tree

Planting a tree together is a great way to mark where you are in your relationship. If you are in a committed relationship this is a great eco-friendly date idea, as you can watch the tree grow together year after year. If you are dating on a more casual level, it may be more appropriate to plant flowers together or something that shows more immediate results. Both are eco-friendly date ideas that are also fun.

Eco-Friendly Date Idea #3 - Head to the Library

Renting a DVD from the library is a big cost saver and an eco-friendly date idea. Renting DVD's is much better for the environment that buying DVDs as the product is shared. Consuming fewer products is better for the environment and another way to show our planet love. Libraries are valuable eco-friendly resources you should support.

Eco-Friendly Date Idea #4 - Picnic in the Park

Heading outside for a picnic is a lovely date idea. In order to make your romantic picnic eco-friendly leave your car at home and walk or bike to the park. Use reusable plates and silverware instead of the disposable stuff.

Eco-Friendly Date Idea #5 - Clean up the Park or Road

Volunteering together to clean trash from a local park or roadside area is a wonderful eco-friendly date idea. Giving back to the community is a wonderful thing to do on a personal level and doing it with a person that you care about can make for an enriching and eco-friendly date.

These are my five recommendations for eco-friendly dates. Don't they sound like more fun than the standard dinner and a movie date?
