Eco-Friendly Kitchen Items

It is easy to continue your green and eco-friendly efforts to the kitchen. Today there are so many options that help preserve our earth, but add style and functionality to your kitchen from cleaning supplies to tableware. Here are my suggested picks.

I love the color and one of my favorite stores, Crate and Barrel now has a line of eco-friendly tableware products. I recently purchased stemless glassware in a very pretty green for entertaining. They cost $4.95 per glass but just look stunning at cocktail parties. They are made of 100% recycled glass and are dishwasher safe.

I really enjoy having a beverage jar on my kitchen island especially in the summer. I usually fill the jar with water and add slices of fresh lemons to make water feel refreshing. I also like how the jar with the lemon slices adds a nice burst of freshness to the kitchen. I purchased from you guessed it Crate and Barrel for $39.95. Yes this is a bit much to pay for a jar but just looks stunning in the room and the best part is the spigot is leak-proof. It is made of 100% recycled glass and I would not put this in the dishwasher. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=14080&f=23882

I love cooking and it is so important to have a nice chopping board. I do not like the plastic ones. I really prefer the End Grain Chopping Board. Let me let you it is expensive compared to what is out there $42.95 but so worth it. It is made of Acacia wood and has feet so it gives me that extra height being that I am tall. I do not suggest you put this in the dish washer. I purchased this board at Crate and Barrel but I am sure other stores sell something similar.

I stopped using kitchen cleaners that are not eco-friendly. I started using Green Works by Clorox. I like this line because it has an eco-friendly version. The items I use are the Natural Glass & Surface Cleaner, Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Natural Dishwashing Liquid, and lastly Natural Cleaning Wipes. You can find these products at your local grocery store. For the full product line and other information I highly encourage you to visit their website: http://www.greenworkscleaners.com

Laundry detergent is also another area that has an eco-friendly version. I use the detergent and fabric softener from Natural Value. I have been very satisfied with how these products work and really think you should try them. I purchase directly from http://letsgogreen.biz/pages/cleaning.html

Hope to see you make some efforts in going more eco-friendly and green!
