Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergents that You Will Love

We are currently in the process of going green in our household, and I would love to share with you my top picks of laundry detergents! I have a husband with an autoimmune disease of the lungs and a daughter with asthma, so getting the chemicals and irritants out of the house is a must. I have probably tried every type of organic laundry detergent out there and I would like to share my favorites.

This planet friendly detergent is my number one pick. It is very affordable at 5.99 to 6.99 for a huge 50 oz. jug. It is free of allergens, dyes, perfumes and petroleum based solvents. I love this product because it comes with a stellar reputation and it really works. It is one of the no frills products, but it is unbeatable in the fight against stains (in my opinion.) Sun and earth products are great for people with sensitive skin. It is safe for washing baby clothing and bedding. It leaves your clothes with a very light citrus scent and a soft feel. It is hypoallergenic and non toxic. If you want an affordable Eco-friendly detergent that cleans your clothes like a pro, give Sun and Earth a try.

2) Method Lavender Laundry Detergent

I love Method products. l love this relaxing scent. Method detergents are very fragrant. If you are lover of scents, this is your brand. If you are washing clothing for a man, try the Morning Bloom scent. It smells kind of like cologne. These detergents are the way to go if you are looking to be earth friendly and chic. The packaging on all of their products is gorgeous. If you are a college student who totes laundry detergent back and forth to the laundromat, you will appreciate the small size and concentrated formula. This is my number two because of function, fashion, and price. It is very reasonable at 8.99 to 9.99. It is also easily found online or at your local Target store.

3) Seventh Generation Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Laundry Detergent

This is a very popular organic brand, and for good reason. They do wonderful things for our environment. Seventh Generation boasts a non toxic and biodegradable formula. As with all of their products, the detergent is hypoallergenic, contains no phosphates, and no petroleum based cleansers. It also contains no optical brighteners or enzymes. If you are super sensitive, they also offer a free and clear version. This detergent is also very gentle and is great for use with fine washables. The only downfall to this product is that it does not compete well against tough stains. It is great for use with typical clothing issues and smells delicious. This will run you about 11.99.

4) Dr. Bronner's Lavender Organic Fair Trade Liquid Castile Soap

I am such a huge fan of this stuff. It, to me is one of those products that you get hooked on and find new uses for everyday. The label gives 18 uses for this product including body wash, toothpaste, shampoo, and laundry detergent. All oils involved are certified Organic through the National Organic Standards Program. It is super concentrated and does a great job as a laundry detergent with very little product. It will run you about 12.99 for 32. oz. This laundry detergent is packaged in 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles. It contains no floral water, synthetic surfactants, or petro chemicals. If you want a great organic product that is a true multitasker, you've met your match.

5) Ecos Liquid All Natural Laundry Detergent (lemongrass)

This amazing product made by Earth Friendly Products is a dream. For a 50 oz. container, you will pay about 8.99. This concentrated formula cleans a full load of laundry. Product can also be used in HE washers and includes a built in soy based fabric softener. This formula is septic safe, 100% biodegradable, and plant based. This company also does not test on animals. Detergent containers are recyclable. Once again, I would advise use of this product for lightly soiled loads.

6) Get Clean Fresh Laundry Concentrate Liquid
