Need some ideas for your St. Patrick's Day party? Planning your St. Patrick's party means breaking out the green. Are you getting ready to rush out to buy paper decorations and plastic cups for your green beer? Have any idea about how most of that stuff ends up in a landfill? Try environmentally friendly ideas for your St. Patrick's party instead. You can plan a St. Patrick's Day celebration that is fun and eco-friendly.

St. Patrick's Day party decoration ideas:

It's a good idea to plan ahead and save the green envelopes from old Christmas cards. Draw a shamrock on the outside and cut it out. Hang it up with the inside of the envelope that has no writing facing out.

Another great St. Patrick's Day party decoration idea is to use leftover hearts from Valentines Day. Glue 4 together at the points and paint them green. You now have a lucky four leaf clover. When the party is over, recycle them. Buying a green table cloth is a great idea because it can be used for a Christmas and for your St Patrick's Day party.

St. Patrick's Day party supply ideas:

Don't buy those cheap plastic glasses that you throw away at the end of the night for your St. Patrick's Day party. A better idea is to use glasses you already own. Buy a resin based glass paint to paint shamrocks on beer glasses and the outside of glass plates or bowls. Paint on cute little Irish sayings like:

Kiss me! I'm Irish.

Luck of the Irish.

Hands off me pot-o-gold!

Only paint where food and drink won't touch the paint to be safe. To clean, wipe with a paper towel and warm water or rubbing alcohol.

St Patrick's Day party food ideas:

Green beer is a staple at most St Patrick Day parties, but what about food ideas? A good St. Patrick's Day idea is to serve corned-beef sandwiches or make ham, cabbage and potatoes. Don't throw away the ham bone. I better idea is to use it to make soup or beans with the next day.

Make an all green veggie tray for appetizers. Another idea is to cut up yellow cheese in small circles along with some dark bread or crackers. Pile the cheese up in a circle and surround with the dark crackers. Add a note saying, "Share me pot-o-gold". Don't throw away any leftover cheese, vegetables or beer. Reuse it by throwing it into a crock pot with some chicken or leftover corned beef to make another meal for your family.

St Patrick's Day outfit ideas:

Try these ideas to polish off your St Patrick's Day look by adding a few accessories. Grab an old top hat, a party hat from New Year's Eve or that hat hidden in your closet from the '80s. Add a thick green ribbon around the brim for a low key St. Patrick's Day leprechaun hat or go crazy buy adding some of the shamrocks you made for decorations.

Another accessory idea is to borrow your child's black witch's cauldron from Halloween. Fill it with edible gold wrapped coins, when people ask tell them it is your pot-o-gold. If you are feeling cheeky, offer a piece of "gold" for a kiss.

These St. Patrick's Day party ideas are eco-friendly and fun. Make your St. Patrick's Day party stand out by not only wearing green, but also thinking green. Reuse items from other holidays. Reduce landfill waste by not buying one time use disposable products. Recycle paper and other waste after the party. Your St. Patrick's Day party can help save the planet by following these green ideas, and that's no blarney!
