Ed, Edd 'n Eddy's "Lost Episode"

On Sunday, June 29, Cartoon Network aired an Ed, Edd 'n Eddy marathon, which led up to the premiere of the "lost episode." However, by doing some online research, I discovered that the episode wasn't truly "lost"; it simply hadn't aired in the United States prior to the marathon. It appears the episode had already aired in Australia earlier this year.

Two stories comprised the "lost episode." The first story was titled, "May I Have This Ed." The premise of this story is that the Eds discover that a school dance is coming up, and Double D is afraid to go. Eddy, on the other hand, really wants to go, and digs out a book that belonged to his brother (titled Dates, Dames, and You) to find tips on how to get a date for the dance. Ed goes along for the ride, but isn't really interested in finding a date for the dance. From what I've read online, this episode drops a hint as to who Nazz has a crush on (and that this is an important point for the Ed, Edd 'n Eddy movie that is scheduled for release later this year). This story includes all the gags and hijinks that you would expect from an episode of Ed, Edd 'n Eddy.

The second story included in the "lost episode" is titled, "Look Before You Ed." It's wintertime in Peach Creek, and poor Jimmy is constantly getting hurt while the other kids are having their wintertime fun. Double D wants to start a winter safety club, but Eddy laughs it off, saying that no one was interested in this club in previous winters, so no one would be interested now. Jimmy, however, overhears this conversation, and joins forces with Double D to start the club. Double D and Jimmy try their hardest to keep the wintertime fun safe, but after Ed and Eddy join the club, everything goes wrong. Like "May I Have This Ed," this story also contains the gags, jokes, and hijinks you would expect from an episode of Ed, Edd 'n Eddy.

While neither of these episodes were necessarily masterpieces, they were rather typical for what a viewer has come to expect from this property. However, I would have to say that "May I Have This Ed" was a little better than "Look Before You Ed." "Look Before You Ed" did leave the viewer asking some questions about the logic of some of the events that take place during the course of the story. However, both stories seemed to satisfy the Ed, Edd 'n Eddy fanbase that had been waiting a while for new episodes.
